Fire on the Mountain 7” Single

House of Artifacts make their debut with the song “Fire on the Mountain,” specially mixed in two parts for this 7” single release! Exploring themes of dissatisfaction and the unrealistic pursuit of perfection, “Fire on the Mountain” attempts to make sense of the fantasies people tell themselves through lush instrumentation and a song structure that changes as abruptly as one’s own life often does. The first part’s urgent acoustic guitar and driving backbeat creates a sense of anxiety. This differs from the second part’s more melancholic and reflective tone — shaped by softer vocals, glockenspiel, and Mellotron flutes.

POLYGONDWANALAND

KING GIZZARD & THE LIZARD WIZARD

The year 2017 marks an especially ambitious year for Australian rock ensemble King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard — being that they not only put out five studio albums that year, but five drastically different and unique albums. Polygondwanaland is the 4th in the run, and 12th studio album overall. The name “Polygondwanaland” is a portmanteau of the words Polygon and Gondwana (often referred to as Gondwanaland), with polygon referring to the intricate instrumentation of the songs and Gondwana (a super-continent that predates the more recent Pangaea) corresponding to the primeval narrative cryptically described by the esoteric lyrics.
