Utilizing warm pads and the ambient sounds of nature in both exciting and uptempo tracks, and softer more melodic pieces, electronic artist Chypho seems to capture snapshots of insect life in a garden throughout the day. Entomongaku opens with the track “Dewdrop”, which perfectly encapsulates the atmosphere of a still morning with its ever so catchy five note motif. Not all songs serve as meditative motors though, with tracks like “Dandelion Sailing”, and “Chrysoperla” presenting a more airy and energetic vibe. The album winds down with “The Night Choir,” giving us a peaceful transition into night after all the varied events of the day. The compositions are dynamic in feel, yet cohesive in sound, making this album enjoyable to those who wish to play it in the background and accompany their life, or those who would prefer to sit and immerse themselves in it.
Entomongaku is the first title of the Chypho LPs released by Jahbulon Records. The beautiful cover art, coupled with the sleek obi and gold-foil stamped numbers, make these a great addition to your collection.
