We're gonna get there… Polygondwanaland
The year 2017 marks an especially ambitious year for Australian rock ensemble King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard — being that they not only put out five studio albums that year, but five drastically different and unique albums. Polygondwanaland is the 4th in the run, and 12th studio album overall. The name “Polygondwanaland” is a portmanteau of the words Polygon and Gondwana (often referred to as Gondwanaland), with polygon referring to the intricate instrumentation of the songs and Gondwana (a super-continent that predates the more recent Pangaea) corresponding to the primeval narrative cryptically described by the esoteric lyrics.
